 Update - February 14, 2009:
Yahoo News - Climate change even worse than predicted: expert. It has been just over a year since the Nobel-winning Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published a landmark report warning of rising sea levels, expanding deserts, more intense storms and the extinction of up to 30 percent of plant and animal species.
But recent climate studies suggest that report significantly underestimates the potential severity of global warming over the next 100 years, a senior member of the panel warned.
Not that we buy any of this convenient hysteria or wish to help along the
global warming hoax...but we just want to know if they considered this one
fact: They admit that their "undisputable facts" from just one year ago
were incorrect. But somehow we're supposed to be confident that they have the slightest clue what they are talking about now? Especially since they are predicting what's going to happen in 100 years! Which
we suppose is in improvement over two weeks ago when they were predicting out to
1000 years!
Besides, the initial sky is falling report pretty much predicted the end of the world as we know it. So, really, how much more can they pile on to the end-of-the-world hysteria? It's like saying the toast is burnt but, if we don't watch out, the toast will really really really and truly be burnt. And they really really really mean it this time! (until next time)

Antarctic glaciers melting faster than
thought
If it wasn't so serious we
would find the timing of this hilarious. Right after Obama proposes a
massive tax in the name of global warming, the carbon credit scheme, we get
this garbage. We find the following quotes from the article most
interesting.
The head of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group set up by the United
Nations, told lawmakers on the Environment and Public Works Committee that
Earth has about six more years at current rates of carbon dioxide pollution
before it is locked into a future of severe global warming.
So unless we enact massive
taxes in the next six years, a perfect fit for the current political
establishment in Washington, we're doomed. Really, if we don't' do something
in 6 years, out of the millions of years the earth has existed we're doomed?
We find it hard to understand how anyone can be so stupid as to believe
this?
The big surprise was
exactly how much glaciers are melting in western Antarctica, a vast land
mass on the Pacific Ocean side of the continent that is next to the South
Pole and includes the Antarctic Peninsula.
A 2007 report by the
IPCC predicted a sea level rise of 7 to 23 inches by the end of the century,
which could flood low-lying areas and force millions of people to relocate.
The group said an additional 3.9- to 7.8-inch increase in sea levels was
possible if the recent, surprising melting of polar ice sheets continues.
Once again, they are
shocked at how wrong they were just 2 years ago. But they are sure we only
have 6 years left or else we're goners.
They love to constantly up
the odds by "admitting" their errors and now claiming even worse
predictions. Don't they realize that being wrong is being wrong and proves
they don't have any idea of what is going to happen? Of course they do, but
they figure the masses are too stupid and dumb to notice.
But a January study in the journal Nature found that Antarctica's average
annual temperature has increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1957,
but is still 50 degrees below zero.
The report also determined that autumn temperatures in east Antarctica were
cooling over the long term.
Yes, we're not making this
up. This also appears in the same gloom and doom article.
One degree in fifty years.
How accurate were the temperature methods in 1957? No satellites, minimal
ground posts, is it possible that the one degree is measurement error? Lets
compare apples to oranges and call it science. We did a little experiment.
We took two calibrated
thermometers and put one in our front yard and one in our back yard. Over
the course of 24 hours they never agreed on the temperature, often being
several degrees apart. Does that now prove that our front yard is global
warming faster than our back yard? Maybe if we go in the back yard we can
survive 10 years instead of 6! Of course we're being flip here to prove the
point. Making up your science as you go along can lead you to any conclusion
you want to achieve.
Measuring one way in 1957
at different locations and using different means and equipment than in 2009
only proves that 1 degree is probably well within any reasonable margin of
error. What was the temperature there 500, 1000, 1000 or 100,000 years ago?
They have no idea but will take this statistically insignificant 50 year
snap shot made up of shaky data and turn it into a story.
Everything is melting,
great sheets of ice are dropping into the ocean daily, rain is falling
instead of snow and on and on. But the average temperature is -50 and autumn
temperatures have been cooling long term. Last time we looked water freezes
at 32 above zero, sea water slightly less. So at an average temperature of
-50 how is there a net melting happening?
The answer of course is the
need to panic the public into supporting their own destruction through the
punitive carbon tax. We're also trying to figure out how after these taxes
make everything skyrocket in price people are going to survive? But that was
also answered for us today, the $400 a year tax credit will be made
permanent. That $1.10 a day will save us all!
